Celebration of the Bohemian King

"Bohemian King Party" will be held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi on Monday April 4, 2016 to celebrate the 700th birthday anniversary of Charles IV, the first King of Bohemia who became Holy Roman Emperor. It is a part of series of events across the globe celebrated on this occasion. The launch of the first Czech beer brewed in India, 'Bohemian King' will be announced during the event.

Coronation of Charles IV was held on April 5, 1355 in Rome and already next year he promulgated the constitution for the Holy Roman Empire so called Golden Bull of Emperor Charles IV which was valid for 450 years. 

Czechs call Charles IV Father of the Nation and he was voted the greatest ever Czech in a poll organized by the Czech Television. Under Charles IV's rule, Bohemian lands experienced one of the best times in their history. 

During the four decades of his reign, the Czech Kingdom became a prosperous country with a significant international status. Prague became the capital city of the Holy Roman Empire, the cultural capital of central Europe and one of the most thriving European cities at the time. 

Many landmarks were built under his reign, including main Prague Castle St. Vitus Cathedral. Prague's New Town was founded with the biggest square in the medieval Europe and Charles University was established in 1348 to become the first university in Central Europe. Charles IV founded many towns and important buildings, including Karlstejn Castle - a place for the safekeeping of royal jewels. The oldest bridge in Prague founded by Charles IV - Charles Bridge - is one of the main Prague attractions for millions of tourist every year.

The launch of the first Czech beer brewed in India, 'Bohemian King' will be announced during the Bohemian King Party.  The company Bohemia Beer Pvt. Ltd. aims to become the sixth largest player in one year of the Indian beer industry. Bohemia Beer Pvt. Ltd plans to invest Rs.500 cr in the India over the next five years and is also looking at setting up a manufacturing unit in the next 2-3 years. 

Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in India, under the patronage of whom the official launch of the first ever Czech beer brewed in India took place, said: "The Embassy of the Czech Republic is honoured and pleased to be part of this historic moment. I am grateful to all who have been working hard to transform a long term dream of having a truly Czech beer and thus a part of our culture in India in to reality. I wish many Indians had the opportunity to taste this nice beer."
