The 60th session of the Human Rights Council began on Monday, September 8, and will run until October 8. Czechia will participate in presenting a resolution to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Russia, together with other EU countries.
Other prioritized topics include a resolution focused on Georgia, EU-led resolutions on the human rights situation in Afghanistan and Burundi, and thematic resolutions on the rights of older persons and reprisals. In interactive dialogues and general debates, the Czechia will focus, among other things, on Eastern European countries, the right to privacy, and enforced disappearances. Priorities also include the independence of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the effectiveness and rationalization of the Council’s activities.
