Among the key outcomes was the extension of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Russia, Ms. Mariana Katzarova. Czechia delivered a total of 14 statements on national priorities, including the right to privacy, reprisals, engagement in the dialogue with the High Commissioner on his report, and the human rights situation in Ukraine and Belarus.
The EU submitted resolutions on the human rights situation in Afghanistan and Burundi. Within the EU26 group (excluding Hungary), it also tabled a resolution extending the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Russia.
Czechia co-hosted an event with the UK, Ukraine, and human rights organizations such as ZMINA and Human Rights House Crimea. These organizations presented findings from the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights' review of Russia, as well as other aspects of systematic human rights violations against Ukrainian residents in occupied territories.
Together with Slovakia and Austria, the Czech Republic prepared a traditional joint statement on combating antisemitism within the so-called Slavkov format. The statement was supported by 52 countries and was delivered during the general debate under Item 9 by Slovakia, which coordinated the preparations this year.
At the request of Qatar, an urgent debate was held on the Israeli attack on Qatar on September 9, during which the EU delivered a statement.
In conclusion, the Council adopted 35 resolutions—7 by vote and 28 by consensus. It also adopted two decisions and approved new members of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council.
