The UN Human Rights Council concluded its 57th session, which ran from September 9 to October 11, 2024

Czechia delivered 11 national statements, including those on Afghanistan, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Myanmar, older persons, climate change and reprisals.

On the penultimate day of the session, the Council adopted by consensus a resolution on equal participation in political and public affairs, which Czechia regularly co-sponsors with the Netherlands, Peru, Indonesia and Botswana. The issue of participation is one of the main human rights priorities of Czechia, alongside the rights of assembly and association.

By the end of the session, the Council had adopted 37 resolutions, 10 of which were adopted by vote.

During the five-week session, the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN in Geneva co-organized side events on children's participation and the human rights situation in Crimea.
