HRC: The Czech Republic on the human rights situation in Belarus

On 4 December 2020, the High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet presented her oral update on the situation of human rights in Belarus to Human Rights Council.
During the following interactive dialogue with the High Commissioner, Ambassador Petr Gajdušek presented a videostatement on behalf of the Czech Republic. In his statement, he called for an independent and impartial investigation into the excessive use of force during peaceful protests and immediately cease of all violence against protesters and opponents. He also urged Belarus to cooperate with OHCHR and other human rights organisations such as OSCE. Morever, he mentioned the possibility to establish an independent international body for the in-depth investigation of human rights violations in Belarus.
