Deputy Minister Marie Chatardová visited Geneva and addressed the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council

On 24 – 25 February, Deputy Foreign Minister Marie Chatardová visited Geneva where she met with the leadership of several international organizations and other partners, and delivered the national statement during the High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council.
In her remarks, the Deputy Minister underscored the Czech Republic’s strong commitment to defending international law and democracy, while unequivocally condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. She also highlighted the importance of the Human Rights Council and the need for multilateralism reform, particularly within the framework of the UN80 initiative.
Outside the plenary, the Deputy Minister met with the Deputy UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nada Al‑Nashif, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih, and the Deputy Director‑General of the World Trade Organization, Jean‑Marie Paugam. She also held several bilateral meetings and visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) where she met both the Director‑General and Czech scientists and staff.
