The 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council opened

On Monday, 15 June, the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council opened with a presentation of the report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Together with its EU partners, the Czech Republic will present a resolution on the human rights situation in Eritrea. During negotiations, the Czech Republic's focus will be primarily on resolutions regarding the impact of disinformation on human rights and freedom of expression.

During the plenary session, the Czech Republic will deliver national statements on key topics such as the human rights situation in occupied Crimea and Belarus, and freedom of peaceful assembly and association, and freedom of expression. Czech Young Delegates to the UN will also deliver video statements.

The Czech Republic supports the independence of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the effectiveness of the Council, and streamlined activities to be essential for the Council to function. The final part of the session will be devoted to adopting resolutions, after which the session will conclude on 7 July.
