Czech UN Youth Delegates in Geneva

In the second part of June, Czech UN Youth Delegates joined the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic in Geneva.

During their 10-day stay, Simona Petrů and Kristina Šůsová shadowed the work of the human rights team. They participated in interactive dialogues and informal meetings held during the 47th session of the Human Rights Council. Kristina and Simona spoke on behalf of Czechia in an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the right to education. In their statement, they underlined the importance of student mobility and language learning.

Furthermore, the Czech Mission organized several briefings which were also attended by Youth Delegates from other countries such as Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Israel, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia. The participants had a chance to virtually meet the Deputy Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Geneva, experts of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Population Fund, the NGO Human Rights Watch and the Director of the Diversity & Inclusion Programme at CERN. At the end of their stay, the Youth Delegates also visited the International Committee of the Red Cross Museum in Geneva, interactive exhibitions at CERN and the historical building of the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
