On 28 September, the Consulate General in collaboration with the Czech School & Community Centre Manchester put together an event with a young Czech illustrator Karel Osoha. His drawings accompany a popular series of books by Václav Matocha about a fictitious mysterious Prague district called Prašina.
In a discussion with local Czech expatriots, both children and adults, Karel Osoha described what it is like to create comics in the 21st century, where to look for inspiration and what may be behind the fact that he is considered one of prominent representatives of the current generation of European draughtsmen. After a talk that answered numerous other questions, both the professional and the children present joined in a creative session.
Karel Osoha came to Manchester on the margins of his visit to the Lake District, where he took part in LICAF 2024. His participation was made possible thanks to the support of the Czech Literary Centre in Brno.
