Under the auspicies of Marie Chatardová, Czech Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and in the presence of David Frous, Czech Consul General in Manchester, and with the unique background of Edinburgh’s Pianodrome, Duo Ardašev performed a piano version of Smetana’s My Homeland in Leeds City Museum on 22 September 2024. The concert was a part of the 5th edition of a project dedicated to presentation of Czech music abroad, entitled Czech Dreams 2024.
It was an extraordinary musical experience for all lovers of Czech classical music, be it Czech compatriots or enthusiastic local listeners. Renata Ardaševová - Lichnovská a Igor Ardašev proved they are top performers of the piano-four-hands version of Smetana’s master piece. The concert of Duo Ardašev was in deed a most fitting tribute to the work of one of the giants of Czech music, whose 200th birthday is being marked by a year-long project Smetana 200, an integral part of the Year of Czech Music 2024. The event also celebrated a decades-long partnership of Leeds and Brno. It could not have been made possible without their support.
