On 13th November 2023, Defence Attaché, Brigadier General Vratislav Beran, and Ambassador Marie Chatardová, invited Czech veterans, participants of the the ‚Children of Heroes‘ project, colleagues and other honoured guests to a reception to observe the Veteran's day.
Czech veterans, who flew to London from the Czech Republic, earlier took part in the Remembrance Sunday March and visited the Czechoslovak plaque in Westminster Abbey.
This year, the reception was elevated by informational panels by Mr. Jan Kratochvíl and Mrs. Sabina Kratochvílová from the "Museum of Czech, Slovak and Ruthenian Exile of the 20th Century" in Brno that focused on the "Knights of the Sky" - the Czechoslovak airmen serving in the RAF during the Second World War.
Furthermore, the guests had an opportunity to take part in the launch of an educational project (also focusing on WWII) by the Czech School without Borders in London and the Prague School of Creative Communication.
The Defence Attaché, together with Her Excellency Ambassador Marie Chatardová, were also honoured to hand over a Cross of Merit of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, awarded in memoriam by the minister of Defence, Mrs. Jana Černochová, to one of the Czechoslovak WWII veterans earlier this year.
