The Embassy organised a discussion to mark the 25th anniversary of Czechia's accession to NATO

On Monday 20 September, the Embassy organised a discussion at Kings College London with Ian Clarke, former Special Advisor to President Petr Pavel during his tenure on the NATO Military Committee, to mark the 25th anniversary of Czechia's accession to NATO.

Czechia joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation on 12 March 1999, together with Poland and Hungary. The event, entitled "25 Years of NATO Eastern Enlargement: Benefits, Challenges and Prospects", which took place at one of the UK's most prestigious universities, attracted a diverse audience from academia and diplomatic and security community.

Ian Clarke, a former Royal Navy officer and military diplomat, who served as Special Advisor to President Petr Pavel during his tenure as Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, spoke about the challenges and benefits of NATO's enlargement, its relationship with Russia, the future of the Alliance both in Europe and globally, and the role of AI in the future of warfare. The event was co-organised by KCL's Centre for Grand Strategy and the KCL Czech and Slovak Society.
