A tribute to the life of general Miroslav Liškutín DFC AFC (Rtd)

Took place on Wednesday 28th March 2018 at Portchester Crematorium in Fareham. General Liškutín died on 19th February 2018 at the age of 98 years.
Embassy of the Czech Republic was represented by his Excellency the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Mr. Libor Sečka and by the Deffence Attaché Colonel Jiří Niedoba.

General Miroslav Liškutín DFC AFC flew as a combat pilot within the 145 squadron RAF and later on within the 312 and 313 Czechoslovak squadrons. During his operational tour he flew 130 operations and 430 operational hours over the occupied Europe, including the allied assault on Dieppe and the invasion of Normandy. He returned to liberated Czechoslovakia as a lieutenant, shortly after the communist takeover in 1948, when he was already a captain, he was sent on a forced leave and in July 1948 he managed to flee the country once again. He settled with his family in the United Kingdom. General Liškutín again entered service with the RAF where he flew from 1948 till 1979 reaching the rank of Squadron Leader. Mr. Liškutín was later on engaged in the civil aviation industry until 1979. During the rehabilitation of western front soldiers after 1989 he was promoted to the rank of Colonel (retired). General Miroslav Liškutín DFC AFC was decorated by several decorations and medals, in June 2017 he was handed the presidential decree by the Predinent Miloš Zeman promoting him to the rank of brigadiel general (ret.)
