The Czech leaders´ condolences to the United Kingdom

With regard to the terrorist attack that took place on 22 May 2017 in Manchester, the authorities of the Czech Republic expressed deepest condolences to their British counterparts.

The President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, in his letter to Queen Elizabeth II. states that he is  alarmed by the increase in violence, hate and heartlessness in Europe over the past years and on behalf of himself and the citizens of the Czech Republic he extends his sincere condolences to the families of those who died and were injured.

The Czech Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka, says in a letter to Theresa May that he received the news with shock and deep sorrow and expresses his sincere condolence. At the same time, he assures her of the continued partnership of the Czech Republic in the fight against those who commit such detestable acts.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek, sent a letter to the British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, in which he expresses his sincere and deepest condolences to the families of the victims and his support. He states that this barbaric act must be condemned in the strongest manner. He also assures his British counterpart that the Czech Republic will stand firm with her allies in confrontation with all kinds of terrorism.

Condolence letters was also sent by, e.g., the President of the Czech Senate, Milan Štěch, and the Police President of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Tuhý.
