On the 29th September 2016 the National Day reception was held at the Ambassador's residence.
The reception was opened by the Ambassador Libor Sečka, who warmly welcomed the guests and introduced the Police President of the Czech Republic, Major General Tomáš Tuhý, who was one of the guests of honor. The Ambassador´s speech was followed by the Czech and British national anthems performed by a chamber ensemble of the Czech Philharmonic, Belfiato.
Among the other honored guests were Ambassadors, mostly from the partner EU states and other members of the diplomatic corps, prominent Czechs living in the UK, among whom were the architect Eva Jiřičná, the eminent cardiologist Professor Jan Marek and the composer Karel Janovický, war veterans, directors of the expatriate organisations and the Czech Agencies in London.
The weather was very nice, so the guests, in addition to eating the traditional Czech cuisine and drinking Moravian wines and Pilsner Urquel beer, strolled around the residence's garden enjoying the warm rays of the sun.
Skoda Auto, which is one of the partners of the Czech Embassy, exhibited a new Skoda Superb in front of the residence and a historic model of a Skoda 442 in the garden.
