Gala reception for the opening of the academic year in the UK

On 14 October 2016, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of Slovakia held a joint reception to welcome Czech and Slovak students at the start of the new academic year. The reception, held at the Embassy of Slovakia, started with an informal gathering after which the guests were treated to a theatre performance.
The evening was opened by the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic L'ubomír Rehák and wife of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mrs Sabrina Sečková. After a short reception during which the students got the chance to speak to the Slovak Ambassador and Mrs Sečková, the evening continued with a performance of the play "Migrant Rhapsody" performed by the Slovak volunteer community theatre in London. The play deals with the unfortunate mishaps of the Czech and Slovak émigrés heading to the United Kingdom. The audience greatly enjoyed the performance for its witty exaggeration and said it was a great success.
The reception was attended by more than one hundred students from more than two dozen British universities, including UCL, the University of St. Andrews, University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics.
