Czech Ambassador Visits One of the Largest British Steelworks in Czech Ownership

On 27 November 2025, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom, Václav Bartuška, visited 7 Steel UK in Cardiff – one of the largest British steelworks, employing more than 800 people. Under its Czech owner, the company has established itself as a leading producer of low-carbon steel for construction, infrastructure, and energy projects throughout the United Kingdom.

During the tour, the Ambassador learned about the processes that make 7 Steel UK an important pioneer of the circular economy in the British steel sector. He first visited the modern recycling facility where steel scrap is collected, sorted, and prepared for further processing. He then toured the melting plant with an electric arc furnace, in which recycled British scrap is transformed back into high-quality steel with a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to traditional steelmaking methods. The programme concluded with a visit to the rolling mill, where bars, rods, and other materials used in projects across the UK are produced.

In discussions with the company’s management, the Ambassador focused on the development of trade cooperation, investment opportunities, and the promotion of sustainable technologies in British industry. 7 Steel UK thus reaffirms its role as a key player in the sector – with a fully integrated model from scrap collection and recycling to the final production of construction steel. This approach aligns with the principles of the circular economy and represents the future of sustainable steelmaking.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that similar projects can serve as inspiration for further Czech-British industrial and investment activities.
