“The most vital point for the planned Czech Presidency in the Council of the European Union was Russian aggression in Ukraine. However, in no circumstances does it mean we will neglect other eastern European partner countries,” shared Minister Lipavský.
 
The important point of the talk was regional security in the South Caucasus. Both ministers agreed that war in Ukraine should not lead to other security problems being pushed aside. Minister Lipavský emphasized that Czechia has interests in a safe, stable, and prosperous South Caucasus. He expressed support for continuing EU discussions and mediation activities with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, that leads to negociations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
 
The head of Czech diplomacy praised the reform process in Armenia despite the complicated geopolitical situation. “We appreciate the progress made so far; we support the reform process and believe Armenia will successfully continue to bring prosperity to its citizens,” said the Czech Minister.
 
The ministers additionally discussed renewing bilateral relations after the pandemic recedes. They spoke about cooperation in democratic transitions and potential economic cooperation.
