Meeting with the representatives of the US based organization “American Friends of the Czech Republic”

On 12 June 2019, Junior Deputy Minister Veronika Kuchyňová Šmigolová received on behalf of the Minister Tomáš Petříček a delegation of the US based non-governmental organization “American Friends of the Czech Republic” (AFoCR) in the Czernin Palace to thank them for their support. They had an open discussion on the existing cooperation between Czech diplomacy and the AFoCR, as well as on possible future cooperation and projects.

American Friends of the Czech Republic is a US non-governmental and private organization founded in 1995. The goal of AFoCR is to foster closer ties between the United States and the Czech Republic in the areas of business, trade, culture, education, diplomacy, and security. Since its founding, the AFoCR has helped in the US to implement a number of key projects important for the Czech Republic such as a support for the Czech Republic's accession to NATO, the visa waiver program for Czech citizens, the TGM statue in Washington D.C., the placement of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial in front of the Prague Main Railway Station or the unveiling of the bust of Václav Havel in the U.S. Congress.
