Minister Kohout and Steinberg positively evaluated the development of transatlantic relations during the Czech Presidency of the EU. Deputy Secretary Steinberg expressed thanks to the Czech Republic as the Presidency country for the achievement of the common position of the EU to accept the detainees from the Guantanamo prison and confirmed the interest of the Obama administration to further develop the relations with the EU.

Minister Kohout and Jim Steinberg also talked about the situation in Iran and addressed other current issues. Jim Steinberg assured Jan Kohout that the USA will inform its allies in detail about the results of President Obama visit in Moscow, which is to take place on 6 and 7 July 2009.
