On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Dublin organized a series of discussions on human rights.

The Embassy had the pleasure of welcoming representatives of media, NGOs, academics, and students. On Tuesday, 10 December, the main topic of the discussion was freedom of speech and the protection of journalists. The meeting on Thursday, 12 December, was focused on human rights in the current armed conflicts. On Friday, 13 December Ambassador Vošalík visited the Maynooth University campus where he discussed the issue of human rights in connection with migration together with lecturers and students.

The tradition of hosting ‘Mitterrand’s’ breakfasts with activists, independent journalists, and human rights defenders dates back to 1988, when French President Mitterand invited a group of eight dissidents to show support and send a clear message to the regime of the time that they had not been forgotten by the democratic world.
