JOIN THE COURSE AT THE TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN: The Art of Czech Screenwriting

Registration is now open for an evening lecture-seminar course devoted to the art of Czech screenwriting, starting on Monday 21 October 2019, 7:00 pm, in Trinity College Dublin. The award-winning screenwriter Petr Jarchovský (Cosy Dens, Divided We Fall, The Teacher, etc.) is going to join the course one night for a discussion.

To register please go to: https://www.tcd.ie/Russian/courses/evening-courses/czech.php

This course considers the unique connection in the Czech context between literature and film, the distinct focus on language – from the early days of sound film, to the 1960s Czechoslovak New Wave, to the present. The lectures will address some of the most beautiful and successful co-operations between writers and filmmakers – including the Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning teams of Jaroslav Papoušek and Miloš Forman; Bohumil Hrabal and Jiří Menzel; Zdeněk Svěrák and Jan Svěrák; and Petr Šabach, Petr Jarchovský and Jan Hřebejk. Lectures will include clips from the chosen movies. As this year we are marking the 30th anniversary of the fall of Communism, the different challenges of filmmaking before and after 1989 will also be considered.

The course is supported by the Czech Embassy in Dublin.
