A unique organ recital by Pavel Kohout in a Dublin Cathedral

On October 27, 2017, Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral resonated with Czech music. The excellent recital of the renowned Czech concert organist Pavel Kohout was organised by the Czech Embassy to celebrate the National Day marking the Establishment of an Independent Czechoslovak State.

On the eve of the Czech national holiday, the Day of the Establishment of an Independent Czechoslovak State, the Embassy organised a concert at the Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, performed by the renowned Czech concert organist Pavel Kohout.

In his recital, Pavel Kohout included music from various Czech composers such as Josef Ferdinand Norbert Seger and Josef Klička, as well as a transcription of the symphonic poem "Vltava" by Bedřich Smetana. He also performed an organ improvisation based on Czech folk songs, which enjoyed a special recognition for many in the audience. The program was supplemented by excerpts from the works of J. S. Bach and A. Vivaldi.

Pavel Kohout’s premier organ concert in Ireland was an exceptional musical experience.
