Long term visa generally

An person that needs to stay in the Czech Republic for over 90 days can apply for long term visa. You are obliged to submit the application only at the Czech Embassy in the state of which you are a citizen or which issued your current travel document, or in the state of which you have a long term or permanent residence permit. 
 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

All the residents who want to submit their long term visa/stay at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Doha must prove that they have been staying in the State of Qatar legitimately and continuously for at least 2 years. In case they are not able to prove it, the application will not be accepted.

 

Once you have all required documents in accordance with 326/1999 Act on Residence of Foreign Nationals, you must book an appointment via e-mail: doha.consulate@mzv.gov.cz. Every applicant must come in person to submit the application once the appointment is confirmed by e-mail.  Note please that:

  • - all documents must be submitted in original or in copy (travel document, document confirming the purpose of the stay and registrar documents as for instance birth certificates shall be submitted in original - Czech Embassy will make the certified copy of these documents)
  • - all documents must be submitted with translation to the Czech language (the only exception is periodical bank statement in English, that is in English)
  • - all documents issued by authorities (birth, marriage certificates, diplomas, school results...) must contain higher verification (apostille or superlegalization)

 

Required documents and acts

  • - the original travel document
  • - personal photography
  • - proof of accommodation
  • proof of the stay
  • proof of funds
  • - consent of parents, statutory or guardian of a child to his/her stay in the Czech Republic
  • - document similar to an extract from the Penal Registrar record (criminal record, police clearance), issued by the state of which you are a citizen, as well as by the states in which, in the last 3 years, you have resided continuously for a period longer than 6 months (not required from foreign national under 15 years)
  • - upon request a document proving the fulfilment of conditions set our in the measure of Ministry of Health on prevention of the spread of infectious illness
  • - completely filled long term visa application form (below in attached file)
  • - application fee must be paid and fingerprints must be given that's why every applicant must come in person (no exception is possible)

 

Once the visa is approved, consular department will contact you with instruction for establishing medical insurance and with the appointment day for obtaining the visa. Medical insurance must be in accordance with the article 180j of the 326/1999 Code, is mandatory to be able to obtain the visa as well as original passport. If there is a change of the passport during the visa process, you are obliged to inform the Embassy and bring the original of new passport as soon as possible to the Embassy to avoid any delay of the visa process. 

The Czech Embassy is only competent for receiving an application for a long -term visa - the competent body for processing is the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic. The Czech Embassy only follows instruction of the MOI, invites applicants for a hearing, calls them to bring additional documents or to pick up the visa. The Czech Embassy in Doha has no power to speed up the process. The decision process is made in accordance with 326/1999 Code and takes usually 60 days or 90 days (depends on the purpose of the application) and can be prolonged in accordance with the law. That's why, we highly recommend all applicants to submit their applications in advance (4 or more months before intention to arrive to the Czech Republic).
