The delegation of the Czech Senate headed by First Vice-President Prof. Jiří Drahoš visited Egypt between 22nd and 26th April 2024

The delegation of the Czech Senate headed by First Vice-President Prof. Jiří Drahoš along with the Chairman of the Committee of Education, Science, Culture and Human Rights Mr. Jiří Růžička, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Innovation Mrs. Jana Havlíková and accompanying delegation visited Egypt between 22nd and 26th April 2024.
The delegation was received by Mr. Bahaa Abou Shoka, Deputy President of the Senate, by Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, by Dr. Nevien El Kelany, Minister of Culture, by Prof. Sherif Sedky, CEO Egyptian Space Agency, by Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Director General of Supreme Council of Antiquities, and others.
The delegation exchanged views on a current development in the region and also discussed the ways of increasing mutual student exchanges and bilateral cooperation in science and research, particularly in agriculture or space. Moreover, both sides exchanged their experience in the system of protection of cultural heritage and talked about the ways to open culture more for general public and to promote mutual cultural relations.
On 23rd April 2024, the Supreme Council of Culture held a special cultural event, in which representatives of Egyptian culture were presented with various projects regarding Czech culture and Egyptology, on which we cooperate with Egyptian partners.
At the end, the delegation visited Abusir archeological site, where Czech Egyptologist Mission is carrying out its long-term archeological research and its Director Prof. Miroslav Bárta presented its latest plans and results.
