On 23-26 May 2016, a Czech delegation headed by the Special envoy for Holocaust issues and combating anti-Semitism of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Antonín Hradilek participated at the plenary meeting of the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) in Bucharest.
Romania took over the IHRA Chairmanship in March 2016 from Hungary and the plenary meeting in Bucharest was the first of two meetings foreseen under the Romanian Chairmanship. Its three pillars are: work with the media and social media, the consolidation of Holocaust education in member countries and beyond, and the promotion of academic research.
