The visit took place on 27 February and, in addition to consultations with State Secretary Gîtman, he also held talks with the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by President Titus Corlaţean, and the European Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, chaired by President Ştefan Muşoiu.

The topics of the meeting included current European and foreign security issues, the situation in Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the enlargement of the European Union, the upcoming European Parliament elections and the future of relations with the US in the context of the upcoming presidential elections. The representatives of both countries agreed that the foreign policy positions of the Czech Republic and Romania coincide on many issues and appreciated the upward trend in mutual relations and the ongoing intensive dialogue at all levels. State Secretary Gîtman thanked the efforts made during the Czech EU Presidency in the second half of 2022 in the area of the enlargement of the Schengen area to Romania and Bulgaria.
