
The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Jiří Kozák visited Lebanon

The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Jiří Kozák, conducted political consultations in Lebanon on March 13-14, 2023. The consultations took place at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hani Chemaitelly. In the course of the visit the Deputy Minister Mr. Jiří Kozák held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mr. Abdallah Bou Habib and with the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities Mr. Bassam Mawlawi.
He met with members of the parliamentary Group of Friendship with the Czech Republic, with representatives of the Association of graduates of the Czech and Slovak universities, visited Czech development and humanitarian aid projects and debated with students of the University of St. Joseph about current foreign policy issues.
The Deputy Minister assured the partners that the Czech Republic perceives Lebanon as one of the cornerstones of the stability of the Eastern Mediterranean and the country remains at the center of our attention. The protracted crisis makes the country vulnerable and weighs heavily on the daily lives of the residents. "Therefore, we intend to remain engaged in Lebanon and we will continue our bilateral assistance. We focus on health, security and assistance to vulnerable groups", emphasized Deputy Minister Mr. Kozák. He further appealed for stability of the state administration and for the election of a president. He also praised the principled stance on Russian aggression in Ukraine.
