On 19th June 2014 the Embassy of the Czech Republic hosted a very special event promoting one of the most famous Czech brands – ŠKODA.

ŠKODA China held the 2014 ŠKODA Day with the theme of “Continuing 100 Years of Designing the Future”. This ŠKODA Day interpreted the new design concept of ŠKODA to Chinese audience for the first time. It also reviewed the century-long legendary history of the ŠKODA brand, and shared the company’s brand development strategy and latest progress with the participants who were mainly automobile experts from different Chinese media.

Mr. Peik von Bestenbostel, Head of Communication from ŠKODA Auto, held a presentation of ŠKODA design after the welcoming speeches of Mr. Andreas Hafemann, President of ŠKODA China, and Mr. Zbyněk Noha, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic in China. Besides the elegance of ŠKODA cars the guests had also an opportunity to see the beautiful sights of the Czech Republic presented by CzechTourism Agency and the lovely traditional crystal design exhibited by Preciosa Company.

In addition, Markéta Mátlová, a famous Czech soprano, has been invited to sing the song Jasmine Flower, which vividly explained the depth and nature of Czech-China friendship.

ŠKODA has increased the number of its models produced in China from 3 to 6 (Fabia, Rapid, Rapid Spaceback, The New Octavia, Yeti and New Superb). These include the best-selling brand – the third generation Octavia. In May 2014, ŠKODA delivered more than 23,100 vehicles in China, representing growth of over 10%.
