Apostille - new verification of Chinese documents for their use in the Czech Republic

Apostille is a higher authentication of a public document which confirms that this document was issued by the relevant foreign authority. Chinese documents issued on and after 7 November 2023, which are prepared for its use abroad, are authenticated with Apostille.

Certain documents (birth / marriage / death certificates, criminal records extracts, diplomas, certificates of professional training etc.) that are to be used and submitted in the Czech Republic for various reasons (eg. marriage, application for a long-stay visa / permit etc.) must contain higher authentication. From 7 November 2023, this higher authentication was changed from superlegalization to Apostille. Documents certified by Apostille are directly recognisable (with a certified translation, of course) in the Czech Republic.

For list of Apostille Offices, please check the web-pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Foreign Affairs Office in your province or check with the local notary office.

If you have older document (issued before 6 November 2023) which is fully superlegalized, please check with our office before its use in the Czech Republic, e-mail: beijing.consulate@mzv.gov.cz.
