
Ambassador met Minister of Water

On January 12, 2025, Jan Šnaidauf met with the Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab Abdullah to discuss the possible involvement of Czech companies in water management projects in Iraq. On that occasion, Ambassador gave the Minister list of Czech companies that are interested in implementing water management projects in Iraq.
The Czech Republic has a very long and successful history in the field of water management in the Republic of Iraq. Some Czech (and former Czechoslovak) companies have been operating on the local market for over 50 years. Now, Czechia offers Iraq technical solutions covering all phases of the water cycle, i.e. from drinking water, through management and distribution, wastewater treatment, hydrogeological services, construction and modernization of dams and irrigation systems, consulting services and infrastructure maintenance solutions.

The Minister informed about current needs and priorities in the field of water management. He invited Czech companies and representatives of the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic to participate in the Baghdad International Water Conference (27-29 April 2025).
