
Diplomatic-Academic Conference on the Russian Aggression against Ukraine

The Czech Embassy (acting EU Presidency) in cooperation with the Embassy of Poland and the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute organised a diplomatic-academic conference on the Russian war against Ukraine on 4 October 2022. The session was held at the Polish Embassy, attended by over 100 guests - diplomats (including many ambassadors), academics and practitioners. The key-note presentations were delivered by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Amb. Yevhen Perebyinis and Polish Political Director Witold Sobkow. The panels provided senior diplomatic speakers from Ankara, Brussels, Paris, Prague and Stockholm as well as academic inputs - Prof. G.Herd of the Marshall Center joined on-line. The event was opened by Ambassador Pavel Vacek and moderated by Prof. Hüseyin Bagci of the FPI. The conference considered the state of the war, the Ukrainian needs, the current and next steps of the inernational community in support of Ukraine's defence and reconstruction, as well as initiatives to mitigate the impact of the Russian aggression and the need to counter Russian false narratives. There was an emphasis put by most of the speakers on the need for euro-atlantic unity in supporting Ukraine and countering the Russian aggression and confrontational action, incl.by stepping the sanctions pressure on Russia and by reaching out to the wider global community, in the interest of the international law and the rules-based global order.
