Student from BeteSeb Academy awarded by Czech Embassy

On November 13, 2020 Mr Pavel Šára, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy, visited BeteSeb Academy in Addis Abeba and handed over Diploma „Honorable Mention“ within the International Children´s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. The painting of Belete Soliyana Wondifraw, an 8-year old student, was awarded among more than 22 thousand pieces of work.
On this occassion, the school prepared a small ceremony for the representatives of the school, the awarded student and her relatives. The director of the school recalled that the students of BeteSeb Academy participate regularly in the contest and that it has received an award for six years in a row. Pavel Šára shortly spoke about the history of the contest and appreciated an active participation of the school and its students. The student later received the „Honorable Mention“. To conclude, the representative of the Embassy invited the school to participate in the next 49th edition of the contest.
Each year, hundreds of children from all over the world participate in the International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice in the Czech Republic organized by the Lidice Memorial. The jubilee 45th year of the competition in 2017 has been named under the theme "Travel". This year’s edition saw over 25,600 entries from more than 1,800 schools from 83 countries. The exhibition was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice, murdered by German Nazis in 1942, as well as other children who had died in wars.
