During his official visit to Addis Ababa, Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Tomáš Petříček supported economic cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic H.E. Mr. Tomáš Petříček paid an official visit to Ethiopia from November 12 till November 14, 2019. He was received by the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia H.E. Ms. Sahle-Work Zewde, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Gedu Andargachew and he discussed with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki. The Czech Foreign Minister was accompanied by the multisectoral business mission,and, together with the State Minister H.E. Mr. Aklilu opened the Czech-Ethiopian Business Forum.
The mission of the Minister Tomáš Petříček to Ethiopia had a significant commercial and economic charge. On November 13, 2019, the Czech-Ethiopian Business Forum was held in Addis Ababa Hilton Hotel. In his opening speech Minister Petříček stressed the need to support research and innovation for prosperous industry and economy. He also mentioned long and successful history of the mutual Czech-Ethiopian trade relations.
Also Mr. Jaroslav Hanák, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, addressed the forum participants. The key Ethiopian spokespersons were the State Minister for Economy of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Aklilu Hailemariam, and the President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (AACCSA), Ms. Mesenbet Shenkute. Ms Mesenbet and Mr Hanák signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Czech Confederation of Industry and AACCSA prior to the start of bilateral negotiations of the companies.

Representatives of the Czech companies represented security industry, renewable energy sources, consumer goods sector, energy and agricultural turnkey projects, systems of monitoring and maintenance of water resources in remote areas, meteorological services and products, and others.
