The scholarships for students from Ethiopia are provided by the Government of the Czech Republic
within the framework of Foreign Development Assistance. Scholarships are earmarked for Ethiopian students as every year. They are offered to students who wish to study their Master’s or Postgradual degrees in the Czech Republic. The
study programmes are available in the English language. The recommended fields of study are Geology,
Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental studies, Energetics, Engineering, Mechanical engineering, IT,
Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Finance. If interested, you can find all the necessary

When and how to apply?

The online application register for scholarship applications will be launched on July 20, 2022 at
http://registr.dzs.cz/registr.nsf. The registration will be open till the September 30, 2022.

The applications received after the deadline will not be considered!

Any technical questions can be addressed to the register administrator at the following email address

The first part of the selection process is based on 30-minute knowledge test that will be followed by
a 60-minute English language test. A cover letter (maximum 1000 characters) would be an
integral part of the on-line application, where the applicants explain why they intend to study in
Czech Republic and how they are going to use the knowledge in the country of origin. The best
scoring candidates will advance to the second round.

What does the "second round" mean?

If you manage to get to second round, you will be invited to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa for a meeting. The Embassy will contact all applicants at once. There will be no communication on individual basis with any candidates. The meeting will consist of evaluation of the cover letter and  interview. This part will most probably take place during October and November 2022. If you manage to pass the second round, you will be asked to deliver documents which will be sent to the universities. 

If you do not succeed, you will get an automatic reply to your email. There is no need to contact the Embassy to ask for your result or to re-send your application. 

But do not worry! You can try it next year again.

When will I find out the final results?

Later on, the successful candidates will be contacted by their universities to pass entry exams, submit more documentation etc.  It will be very important to check your e-mail box to make sure you do not miss any instruction from your university. The results
of the selection process and entry exams of the universities will be available by the beginning of May 2023. The study itself will start in September 2023.
