First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Kozák attended the inauguration of the newly elected President of Ghana, John Mahama, from 7 to 9 January 2025.
The Czech Republic and Ghana have long-standing, friendly relations, which is illustrated by the functioning of the resident embassies in both our capitals.
During his stay in Ghana, Deputy Minister Kozák visited the wastewater treatment plant in Kade, the construction of which was financed by the Czech Republic in the form of a restricted donation. This project, commissioned last year, demonstrates our commitment to promoting sustainable development and improving living conditions in the region.
Deputy Minister Kozák also visited the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where the Czech Republic has provided hospital beds and maternity equipment worth CZK 10 million in 2021. Mr. Kozák held talks with the hospital's director, Frank Owusu-Sekyere, and visited the pavilions where the Czech aid was placed.
He discussed with the President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Stephan Miezan, and the Association of Ghana Industries, Kwesi Ayi Darke, the possibilities of further development of mutual trade in the promising Ghanaian market. Deputy Minister Kozák's last stop was a visit to the Czech House, where, once completed, Czech companies will be able to showcase their products to Ghanaian business partners.
