The first Czech National Day in Ouagadougou

As part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary since the foundation of former Czechoslovakia, the first Czech National Day ever was organized in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on 7th November 2018. The event was co-hosted by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic resident in Accra, H.E. Margita Fuchsová, and the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Ouagadougou, Mr. Romaric Sondo. The reception was attended by nearly 100 guests from the diplomatic corp, Burkinabe government, business community, but also from the cultural field.
As expressed in the speech of Ambassafor Fuchsová at the reception, the Czech-Burkinabe relations have intensified in the past years, especially in the fields of security, development and culture. In an effort to further enhance mutual cooperation, the Czech Republic opened its Honorary Consulate in Ouagadougou in June 2018.
On the occasion of its visit to Burkina Faso, the Czech delegation headed by Ambassador Fuchsová, that included also a military attaché, was given an audience by State Minister Simon Compaoré and conducted a series of talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Ministry of Defense.
