New! Czech Honorary Consulate in Côte d´Ivoire

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tomáš Kryl, solemnly opened the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Abidjan on 12 November 2018. During his visit to Côte d´Ivoire, Deputy Minister Kryl also held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, he visited the regional office of the UNHCR to discuss the ongoing realization of the Czech-Italian project in the west of the country.

Deputy Minister Kryl opened the Czech Honorary Consulate in Abidjan together with the Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Amoh-Tanoh. Deputy Minister Kryl stated that establishing of the consulate opens a way for strengthening of trade exchange and development of cooperation in the field of security. He thanked the new Czech Consul, Mr. Mory Diané, for his hitherto contribution to the development of mutual cooperation and handed him officially over the appointment letter. In his initial speech, Honorary Consul Diané introduced the Czech Republic as a stable country in the heart of Europe and a traditional manufacturing base of Central Europe. In his position, he would primarily like to focus on strengthening of economic cooperation.

During his visit to Cote d´Ivoire, Deputy Minister Kryl also held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He highlighted that the Czech Republic is returning to the francophone Africa and identified a potential for the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture mechanization and manufacturing. Deputy Minister Kryl also visited the regional UNHCR office to discuss the progress of the joint Czech-Italian project on reintegration of refugees and support to stateless persons, which corresponds with the Czech policy aimed at migration prevention through solving problems in the countries of origin.
