On 13 May 2026, Chargé d’affaires a. i. Nick Ojo Omorodion ceremonially handed over cybercrime-fighting equipment to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service Mrs Lydia Donkor designated for the Cybercrime Unit. The project was carried out under the CyberVAC programme, financed by the Czech Republic.
As part of the handover, the Ghana Police Service received hardware and specialised forensic software from the Czech company Compelson for working with data, including tools for analysing cloud storage and smartwatches.
The aim is to support Ghanaian experts in more effective collection, processing, and analysis of digital data as evidentiary material. This should lead to better investigations and more robust, court-ready digital evidence for judicial proceedings. The delivery also included professional training for key officers, who can then pass on the know-how to other colleagues and experts.
The CyberVAC programme is a long-term tool for building cyber capacities. It is based on partnership and mutual exchange of experience, not on one-way transfer. It focuses on strengthening the resilience of institutions and society in partner countries across the public sector, the private sector, and academia.
CyberVAC therefore supports practical cooperation and the development of capabilities to respond to cyber incidents and cybercrime. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening global cyber resilience and builds on the programme’s activities to date, including projects in Africa.
