The guest lecturers from the Institute of Political Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague, Mr. Martin Riegl, PhD. and Mr. Bohumil Doboš, delivered a guest series of guest lecturers at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra in the week from 19 to 23 November, 2018. It was the very first accomplishment of the academic cooperation that is foreseen in the memorandum of understanding between both institutions from August 2018.
In their guest course, the guest lecturers from the Charles University focused on geopolitical issues. The topics included i.e. the perception of threats, external support of conflicts, disintegration of the map, or the non-state actors. The lectures met with significant interest of the students and provoked fruitful discussions. In addition, the teachers met Commandant G. Evans and other key representatives of KAIPTC, visited its library, and delivered a lecture on common European defence at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
KAIPTC aims to create a convenient environment for education, research and training in the field of security and international peacekeeping missions through courses, pre-deployment training or master and doctor studies. The cooperation with the Institute of Political Studies of the Charles University, which offers a well-respected program in security studies, hence has a potential to help both sides further develop their capacities on this subject.
