Historical Significance
The palace stands on the site of a former medieval monastery. In the 17th century, Irish Franciscans (Hyberni) were invited to Prague, giving the building its name. It later served as a customs house for the Austrian Empire in the 19th century, reflecting Prague’s role as a key trade hub. In the early 20th century, it underwent several transformations before being repurposed as a theater in 2006 following a major reconstruction.

Today, the Hybernia Theatre is a vibrant cultural venue, hosting musicals, concerts, and theatrical performances. Its neoclassical façade and grand interior make it a landmark of Prague’s architectural heritage.
