Last week, the Commercial Department of the Czech Republic Embassy in Tel Aviv, along with CzechTrade Israel, attended Israfood 2025, the leading food and beverage exhibition in Israel. The event brought together 110 exhibitors and expected around 9,000 visitors, representing a broad spectrum of the food and HORECA (hotel-restaurant-café) industries.
A Dynamic and Innovative Food Market
Israel’s food and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) market is vibrant, with strong consumer demand and a highly developed retail infrastructure. The total food market is estimated to exceed 100 billion NIS, while the FMCG component alone stands at around 57 billion NIS, underscoring the sector’s scale and maturity.
Retail in Israel is highly diversified: there are roughly 3,700 branches of food retail chains, and when including smaller specialty outlets such as bakeries, this number rises to over 10,000 points of sale. The restaurant and food-service sector is equally impressive, with 24,600 cafés, restaurants, and food trucks operating across the country.
Despite the size and sophistication of the market, there is a strong appetite for innovation. New product launches, particularly in healthier foods, plant-based proteins, and ready-to-eat meals, are well received. This openness to innovation makes Israel a highly attractive destination for international food companies exploring new opportunities.
Innovations on Display at Israfood 2025
The exhibition showcased a wide range of innovative products and solutions, such as:
Marina Mushrooms introduced a vegetarian sausage made from mushrooms, developed as part of their portobello line — a promising addition to the plant-based protein segment.
Diplomat, a leading importer, revealed a refined selection of coffee products, reflecting the growing sophistication of Israel’s café and retail coffee market.
Munchies brought a range of snacks and dry foods from markets such as Australia, Thailand, China, Spain, and Poland — many of which are new to Israel, offering fresh, untapped variety.
Donna Italian presented high-quality, traditional Italian frozen pizzas, ready to bake in just two minutes – a convenient premium offering for cafés, restaurants, and retail.
Pro Meat Butcher showcased a line of low-fat meat products that maintain excellent taste, targeting health-conscious consumers without compromising on flavor.
Electis/Samsung demonstrated advanced electronic shelf label systems, illustrating how digital solutions are increasingly integrated into retail.
Looking Ahead
Israfood demonstrated the openness of the Israeli market to new products, technologies and international cooperation. Czech companies interested in entering the Israeli food market are warmly invited to contact the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv for support and guidance.
