Czech participation at the AGRITECH fair leads to cooperation in the area of “precision farming” with Israel

The Czech delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mr. Pavel Sekáč visited international conference & exhibition AGRITECH which took place in Tel Aviv from May 8 to May 10, 2018. AGRITECH has gained its international reputation for presenting the top innovative technologies and cutting-edge research from all areas of agricultural production, intensive farming and drip-irrigation. The majority of exhibited innovative technologies originate in Israel. This year, the topic of “precision farming” was highly placed on the AGRITECH’s agenda. The Czech delegation was accompanied by Ms. Delana Mikolášová, Czech Scientific Counsellor, during their entire stay in Israel.
Deputy Minister Mr. Sekáč met during a bilateral meeting with his Israeli counterpart Mr. Shlomo Ben Eliyahu in order to discuss possibilities of mutual cooperation at the level of their respective ministries, research institutes & universities as well as at the level of actual farmers. During the meeting, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture offered to their Czech guests a tailor-made training for Czech farmers in Israel. They also agreed to explore the possibility of adapting the Israeli most innovative agricultural technologies to the local Czech conditions.
As a part of field tours, the Czech delegation also visited a hi-tech milk farm „AfiMilk“ and an intensive aquaculture farm „Dagon“ which focuses on breeding bass and barramundi fish. Last but not least, the delegation also explored the most famous Israeli drip-irrigation company Netafim. Deputy Minister Mr. Sekáč also visited Volcani Research Center, the leading research agriculture research institute in Israel, and met with its Director Prof. Eli Feinerman. As a result of this visit, Volcani experts are planning to attend a conference on „Precision farming“ that will take place in Prague in October 2018.
