Online Thematic Working Group Meeting on Social Welfare

On December 16, 2020 the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Georgia organized the online Thematic Working Group Meeting on Social Welfare in collaboration with the Government of Georgia and Development Partners.  Social Welfare and Health Care are priorities of Czech Republic’s development cooperation and Georgia is a priority partner country.   

Ms. Jana Gašparíková, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia, Ms. Sabine Machl, Head of UN RC Office, Mr. George Sakhokia, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Government and Ms. Salome Gagua, Chief of Staff at the Office opened the meeting. 

The Thematic Working Group Meeting on Social Welfare was conducted in frame of Annual Partnership Forum and welcomed a range of participants from the Government of Georgia and Development Partners. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Tamar Gabunia, First Deputy Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Security of Georgia and Mr. Jan Chernik, Head of Development Coordination at the Embassy of Czech Republic to Georgia.  

The Thematic Working Group Meeting provided opportunities to bring together different actors and stakeholders to discuss the list of problems based on the governmental priority and relevant GE national SDGs targets. During the meeting, the following aspects were discussed and underlined: Donor Coordination Mechanism; Health and Social Welfare External Assistance to Georgia; Health Sector mobilization for COVID-19 Response; Affect of the pandemic on Health Policy Agenda; Post-COVID priorities in health policy; Institutional changes in the social care system and other issues of Social Welfare.  

Mr. Jan Černík, Head of Development Coordination at the Embassy of Czech Republic to Georgia on behalf of donor community presented Key Messages on Public Health and Social Protection based on strategic objectives of the development partners, which was followed by discussions.

It was highlighted the importance of the Thematic Working Group Meeting and hoped that the meeting will lead the Government of Georgia and Development Partners to the deeper cooperation in this sphere.
