The event brought together 30 participants representing state institutions, professional associations, aquaculture companies, private sector stakeholders and universities active in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The Czech delegation included experts from the private sector and academia.

The symposium provided a platform for discussing the current state and future prospects of fisheries and aquaculture in Georgia, while also facilitating the exchange of knowledge and practical experience between Georgian and Czech experts. Presentations focused on key challenges facing the sector, opportunities for sustainable growth, innovative production technologies, environmental considerations and government support mechanisms.

Experts shared insights into the current situation of fisheries and aquaculture in both Georgia and Czechia, the risks and costs associated with intensive aquaculture systems, technological adaptation of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), and available funding opportunities for further sector development.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening Czech-Georgian cooperation and fostering professional links between institutions and specialists from both countries. The event highlighted opportunities for future collaboration, knowledge transfer and the application of Czech expertise in support of the sustainable development of Georgia’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

The symposium concluded with a networking session, enabling participants to establish new contacts, exchange experiences and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
