On 25 June 2016, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia Tomáš Pernický in the presence of Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Gigla Agulashvili handed over to Governor of Akhmeta district Beka Baidauri an especially modified off-road vehicle to be used as an ambulance for emergency medical service in the village of Omalo (2.068 metres above sea level) and its vicinity.
The off-road ambulance, provided within the Czech development assistance, will be used by military physicians who in summer grant medical assistance in Omalo and surrounding villages – highland Tusheti region in Caucasus is totally inaccessible from October until May with only 25 persons living here throughout the year, whilst in the summer the number of inhabitants and especially tourists increases many times.
When in Tusheti region, Ambassador Pernický also carried out monitoring of the Czech development projects aimed at supporting agricultural activities of local inhabitants in the villages of Omalo and Shenako.
