Meteorological monitoring system to enhance safety of transport in Rikoti Pass

On 4 December 2015, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Tomáš Pernický handed over for use to Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Gigla Agulashvili the meteorological monitoring system, which had been installed near the Rikoti tunnel running through the mountain pass on the main highway that connects Georgia´s eastern and western part. Rikoti meteorological monitoring system, the first of its kind in Southern Caucasus, is to monitor weather conditions and traffic on Georgia´s major section of TRACECA transport corridor.
