On Sunday 7 May 2017, hundreds of people took part in the opening of Europe Day 2017 celebrations in Rike Park in the historic centre of Tbilisi where the European Union member states that have their Embassies in Georgia presented their culture, traditions and customs to Georgian visitors.
The Czech Republic had not only its stand as every year but for the first time ever it presented a dulcimer music band whose one-hour performance on the main stage met with immense success. The members of the “Slovácko mladší” dulcimer music group were thanked for their participation in Europe Day personally by President of Georgia His Excellency Mr. Giorgi Margvelashvili and State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Mr. Victor Dolidze.
Among the visitors of the Czech stand, where Czech culture and traditions were presented on pictures of the CZECH GEMS exhibition as well as in various leaflets on Czech monuments and beauty of Czech nature, was President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili who accepted a glass of Becher liqueur. Home-made apple strudel was also offered to the visitors of the Czech stand.
