The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi again supported the Czech language library at the Institute of Slavic Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, as part of a project to support the Czech language and literature abroad.
On February 2, 2022, Ambassador Petr Mikyska presented to the Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, George Sharvashidze, more than fifty Czech textbooks and books, including works by Jan Patočka and Ivan Blatný. Representatives of the Institute of Slavic Studies, Maria Filina, Zurab Gotsiridze and Czech language teacher Matěj Března, and Czech language students were also present at the ceremony. Students are the most important receipients of new books and hopefully, thanks to them they will be able to better understand the complexities of the Czech language.
During the meeting with the Rector, George Sharvashidze, Ambassador Petr Mikyska informed about the government scholarship program and provided support for teaching Czech at the Institute of Slavic Studies. They both give hope that the newly elected rector of the partner university, Milena Králíčková, will make her next visit to Tbilisi.
