Visit to the city of Pärnu

The Czech Ambassador to Estonia, Zdeněk Beránek, accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador, Daniel Horák, visited the city of Pärnu on 17 February. They were warmly welcomed at the City Hall by Mayor Kristel Voltenberg. During the meeting, they focused on the city’s future development plans and strategic priorities. This was followed by a visit to the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where they discussed potential opportunities for Czech companies to engage in this beautiful city and its surrounding region.

Pärnu offers significant potential for foreign investors and new projects. In addition to a strong tourism sector, which has long been a cornerstone of the local economy, the city is actively seeking to attract companies with higher added value. Pärnu is gradually expanding economically, exemplified by the development of the Hiiu Industrial Village, which provides modern infrastructure for new business projects. The initiative aims to bring new investors and create employment opportunities in the region. Another key driver for the city’s future growth is the planned connection to the international Rail Baltica corridor, linking the Baltic states with Central Europe. This infrastructure is expected to further increase Pärnu’s attractiveness for logistics, manufacturing, and services, stimulating additional investor interest.

From an industrial perspective, Pärnu focuses primarily on wood processing, metal processing, tourism services, and electronics assembling. Alongside these traditional sectors, new initiatives are emerging in the fields of IT and renewable energy. A significant portion of local companies has foreign ownership, reflecting the region’s openness to international cooperation. Support for foreign investors is provided, among others, by the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which offers information services, contacts, and practical assistance for entering the Estonian market. Additional opportunities are emerging in the defense industry, with a specialized industrial defense park being prepared near the city, which could bring further investment and technological projects to the region.
